چکیده

<p><strong>Background. </strong>For the Guatemalan culture, avocado (<em>Persea americana</em> Mill) represents more than a crop, since it has religious, mythical, economical, and medicinal significance typical of center domestication species. Although there is speculation about wide variability wild germplasm, are no studies describing populations. <strong>Objective.</strong> To explore germplasm based on agro-morphological characteristics using standardized descriptors for (<em>Persea</em> spp.). <strong>Methodology. </strong>The distribution 189 trees across eight populations was evaluated cross-tabulation Chi-square testing. In order to properly handle qualitative quantitative data, employed factor analysis mixed data (FAMD) hierarchical clustering principal components (HCPC) analyze relationship variation features within between <strong>Results.</strong> The samples showed various morphological that indicate presence Mexican, Guatemalan, West Indian races in Guatemala. FAMD revealed fruit shape, skin color flesh texture, anise odor leaves ideal traits distinguishing individual trees. At population level, HCPC considerable variance amongst studied but distinct geographic groups samples. <strong>Implications.</strong> not all avocados grown Guatemala highest quality, several extraordinary excellence strewn over republic's highlands. Thus, due danger posed by introduction commercial varieties, advisable preserving germplasm. <strong>Conclusion. methods could be regrouped into three main clusters. proved useful grouping according known can therefore used characterization cultivars whose ancestry unknown.</p>

Estimation of Genetic Variability in Turmeric (curcuma Longa L.) Germplasm Using Agro-morphological Traits

Turmeric is an important medicinal plant and cultivated spice crop in Pakistan. The present study was conducted to determine the extent of genetic variation and relationship among turmeric genotypes using 21 qualitative and quantitative traits. A total of 20 genotypes collected from three eco-geographical areas (Bannu, Haripur and Kasur) of turmeric cultivation in Pakistan were studied under fi...

Assessment of Genetic Diversity among Wild Populations of Achillea bieberstenii Afan. Using Agro-morphological and Germination Traits

There is substantial diversity in Achillea biebersteinii plants in Iran. It has considerable different biological activities including antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, insecticidal, herbicidal and wound healing. Research improvement for medicinal plants depends on the available genetic diversity. The assessment of genetic variability could increase the information for breeding programs. ...

Variability Assessment of Aromatic and Fine Rice Germplasm in Bangladesh Based on Quantitative Traits

The study was conducted to investigate genetic variability among 113 aromatic and fine local rice genotypes of which five were exotic in origin. The test genotypes were evaluated for 19 growth traits, yield components, and yield. All the quantitative traits varied significantly among the test genotypes. High heritability along with high genetic advance was observed for flag leaf area, secondary...

Study on genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for agro-morphological traits of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.)

Twelve hybrids along with their seven parents were subjected to study the genetic variability indicated that genetic material in the present investigation possessed variability which provides sufficient basis for selection by breeder. High estimates of PCV and GCV were obtained for biological yield per plant and seed yield per plant indicated a good deal of variability in those characters signi...

Variability of Root Traits in Spring Wheat Germplasm

Root traits influence the amount of water and nutrient absorption, and are important for maintaining crop yield under drought conditions. The objectives of this research were to characterize variability of root traits among spring wheat genotypes and determine whether root traits are related to shoot traits (plant height, tiller number per plant, shoot dry weight, and coleoptile length), region...
